By doing this, this type of telescope can capture images with almost no background light interference. This grants us the most far-reaching visible-light images ever.

Probably the most well-known version of this type of telescope is the colossal Hubble space telescope, measuring approximately 2.4 meters in diameter and possessing a focal length of an impressive 57 meters long. The Hubble telescope orbits the earth every 96 minutes.
